Four Drugs that Contain THC or CBD

If you’re looking to use cannabis to help with various ailments you’re not alone. While it is considered a Scheduled I substance, and therefore something with supposedly “no therapeutic value” there are actually prescriptions that are cannabinoid-based in this. In this, we’ll go over them, and also what they can do for you.

Dronabinol

This is synthetic THC, also known as Syndros or Marinol, and is usually in an oral or capsule form. It contains Delta-9, which makes it synthetic in use. The purpose of this is to help people who are underweight gain weight, and also help with vomiting and nausea from chemotherapy. It can also be used for lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, MS, and other disorders that are there too. It can also reduce the nausea and vomiting in these people and stimulates your appetite too.

Nabilone

This is synthetic THC, and it’s another potent form of dronabinol, also known as Cesamet and Caneemes, and is used in a tablet up to 6 mg each day. This is synthetic cannabinoids that look and act like THC, and it’s also one that’s good for handling nausea along with pain for those who are getting chemotherapy. It may also be prescribed for people who have chronic or neuropathic pain and can be used to stimulate appetite for those with cancer and AIDS as well.

It is not approved for the use in the US, but it can be used to relieve pain, stimulate your appetite, help with PTSD, IBD, and also spasms and other neuropathic pain that might come about because of this.

Epidolex

This is another one that’s based with CBD, and is used to help with epilepsy, especially for those who have rare forms, including Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and other types. It’s basically cannabis-based CBD that’s very purified and is considered a schedule V drug. This only contains CBD, and no other types of cannabinoids within it.

This is used to help with the spasms that a person with epilepsy may have. it also may be good for insomnia, depression, pain in the nerves, and also other psychosis too. It also is seen to be naturally neuroprotective, so it may help with a bunch of other neurological conditions that may be there. The biggest downside to this one, is that it can interact with other drugs, especially those that are naturally sedative, and is only used for certain conditions.

Nabiximols

This is basically 1:1 THC to CBD, and it’s basically sold with the name Sativex, and is a nasal spray. It’s used for prescriptions in some countries, but the US doesn’t approve of this one. This is used mostly for neuropathy, chronic pain that needs to be controlled, and also managing nausea, pain, vomiting, and also loss of appetite that commonly happens when you have chemotherapy.

The benefits are that it will not be as psychoactive, since it is 1:1. It also is very well tolerated, so it’s very unlikely that you will Od on something like this. The biggest side effect is sometimes it can make you feel sleepy and sick, and for some people, it can be a struggle to metabolize this one, especially if you’re already using antidepressants.

For a lot of people, these drugs may not be use yet, but there is a chance that, with time, there will be more and more usage of this. A lot of people can benefit from it, and it’s something that can possibly be used in the future and may prove to many that CBD and THC aren’t bad, but good for bodily use.
